Originally from Essex but now based in Brighton, James Gillingham is a founding member and drummer of the band congratulations (signed to Bella Union), along with being a session drummer for artists such as Edie Bens, Steven Bamidele and Cowz. 

Along with the playing, James also is a co-owner of Groove Garden Studios, a drum focused rehearsal space, offering Brighton drummers and bands a place to make noise without limitations.
