Joe Nicklin is a London based drummer currently playing for singer/producer Astronomyy & the alternative quintet My Grey Horse.
Joe started playing the drums aged 10, studying with Oxforshire based tutor Gary Marshall. During his teens, Joe developed his trade across UK and Europe in various bands, supporting major artists including Amy Winehouse, The Maccabees, Elvis Costello and Everything Everything.
Joe went on to study with an array of drumming talents including Steve White, Mike Sturgis, Gabor Donyei, Toby Drummond and Stu Roberts, graduating from the Academy of Contemporary Music in 2012 with first class honours.
Joe’s work with the band My Grey Horse was recognised in 2014 with the release of their debut album ‘I Still Don’t Understand’. The record received critical acclaim, with The Sunday Times Culture citing it as ‘essential’, whilst MOJO magazine gave it 4/5 stars.
More recently Joe has been working as a live drummer for London songsmith Astronomyy, opening for London Grammar at their sold out Brixton Academy show, as well as appearing at Glastonbury Festival in summer 2015.
