Migdalia van der Hoven

Migdalia van der Hoven is an international award winning Mexican drummer who is currently working in the UK's musical theatre, jazz and function scene. Credit highlights include: Little Shop of Horrors UK Tour 2024, main chair for SIX the Musical International Tour 2022- 2023 and deputy for the current Tour and West End run other credits include; Cake The Musical;  Billie The Kid; and drummer for the The Coronation Prom held at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the All Souls Orchestra.

Migdalia is a Berklee College of Music alumn and also the current UK Ambassador for the "Hit Like a Girl Contest" and "Women in Jazz Media".

She is known for her groove, sensitivity and versatility across multiple genres such as funk, jazz, latin, pop and musical theatre.

Her current project is the "The Migdalia van der Hoven Quartet" which released their album "Point of Departure" recorded at Abbey Road Studios in 2022. The album release has been supported with a series of concert dates in and around London including the iconic Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and The EFG London Jazz Festival 2021, 2022 and 2023 - she became the first Mexican Female drummer to ever play in this festival. The album has already received a number of very positive reviews from Grammy Award winning artists.

Migdalia was named Woman of the Year in Mexico in 2022 for her contributions in arts and culture. She is also a member of the National Jazz Orchestra of Mexico which supports young women through scholarships to continue their studies in jazz.
