Rich Mulryne (3 Daft Monkeys)
Winner of "Best Live Act " Hancock Awards 2011& Spiral Earth Awards 2011
In their own unique DIY style, 3 Daft Monkeys have become one of the most popular touring bands on the UK festival scene. Their quirky, original and unusual approach to music, and their exhilarating and energetic live performances have garnered them a loyal live following. The recent addition of Richie Mulryne on percussion and Lukas Drinkwater on bass and backing vocals has delighted audiences and further enhanced their famously dynamic shows where you´ll hear tracks from the new album plus live favourites from their previous three studio albums.
The band have ploughed their own furrow through the music business, and despite their cottage-industry approach have created a huge buzz across the music scene in the UK and Europe, where they have drawn in a large and extremely devoted fan base. ´Whispering´ Bob Harris was so impressed by their live performance at Cropredy 2010 that he invited them to perform a live set and interview on his BBC Radio 2 show in April, which was repeated on the Jo Whiley show later that week. The band has also been played by Mike Harding (BBC Radio 2), and on Late Junction (BBC Radio 3) as well as enjoying frequent airplay on many local and international radio stations. Articles about the band can be found in Acoustic Magazine, Rock n Reel, fROOTS, and Uncut.
The release of their latest CD The Antiquated and the Arcane on 1st November 2010 is another landmark in the prolific song writing of the Monkeys. It is a very personal but very positive and uplifting piece of work which will make the listener think, question, cry, laugh, and ,of course, dance.
This year the band appeared on the Glade and Avalon stages at Glastonbury festival, pulling crowds well into their thousands, and headlined festivals in Holland, Belgium, and Germany. The band was also invited back to Fairport Convention´s Cropredy Festival in 2010 due to popular demand, where the 20,000-strong audience received them with an ecstatic response. 3DM seem to have effortlessly risen to the occasion of the larger audiences they are now attracting, and at Beautiful Days Festival treated the audience to a visual and musical extravaganza including percussion and live VJ screens.
Their passion, intensity and sheer joy of life mixed with their infectious dancing rhythms will leave you breathless, enthralled and exhilarated. Come and join audiences of all ages and all backgrounds to see a 3 Daft Monkeys´ live show in a town near you. You’ll find the desire to dance irresistible!
